Officers of District 5,
If or any of your members know of any Marines, FMF Corpsmen, or FMF Chaplains in the area of Port Orange, please let them know that Detachment 658 is looking for members. DOF PRO, Robin Baker, is assisting with PR releases to aid Detachment 658 with recruitment.
In the past several months our Marine Corps League, Captain "Tiger Mayberry" Detachment 658, has lost several members. Through our fund raising efforts and other contacts, we have passed out flyers and communicated with many Marines and FMF corpsman as potential members, but few have responded. To make matters worse I was informed recently that two of our officers have to resign for unavoidable personal and health reasons. Our ranks will now be depleted to the point of struggling to continue our mission.
I am asking all that receive this email to reach out to Marines and FMF corpsman, that you know, or that your friends and family may know, to join us, and help keep our Marine Corps league, detachment 658, vibrant and active. We meet every second Wednesday at the VFW 5810 South Williamson Blvd in Port Orange.
Our next scheduled meeting is Weds, May 9th. at 1800 hrs. Just walk in and join us. Attached is a link to Florida MCL webpage, www.mclfl.org if you want to know more about the league and the value it serves both the Marines and the community.
David Owen, Commandant
Marine Corps League,
the Captain "Tiger Mayberry", Detachment 658
